Pakistan’s Kashmir Election: Some Facts and Analysis

Pakistan’s Kashmir Election: Some Facts and Analysis

Shawdesh Desk:

Elections for 45 seats in the 11th general elections were held in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Sunday, July 25, The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, winning the most seats, followed by the Pakistan People’s Party, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz came third.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won 26 out of 45 seats while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won 11 seats, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won 6 seats while Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party won one seat each.

On the one side, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) celebrating victory, nominated , Abdul Qayyum Niazi as a Primie Minister Candidate and Wednesday 4th August he elected as the new prime minister of Azad Kashmir by a comfortable margin.

But On the other side, PML ( N) and Pakistan Peoples Party were refused to accept the results. Both parties were claiming that the elections was riggid. This may be due to the fact that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won only two seats in the Kashmir general election which was held in the year 2016 but now won 26 seats in this election.

However, unlike Kashmir, whenever elections are held all over Pakistan, some of the other unbelievable strange things happen like the last by-election which was held in NA-75 Daska in April 2021. In that bye-election, around 20 presiding officers were delebrately dissappeared.

But it was totally surprised, when the Election Commission found out the reason for the disappearance of these officers, they stated that they had disappeared due to fog.

But when we analysis the results of the last ten elections in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, one thing is cleared, in the past, most of the time, whichever party was in power, the same party won the election by winning more seats. Now the question is how the same party PTI which had won only two seats in the last election but win  26 seats in this election? It means 24 more seats than the Past elections of 2016.

Contrary to the fraudulent statements of PPP and PML ( N ) members and leaders, I used this philosophy (ie why the party in power at the center wins the elections in Kashmir?) to get to know this answer, I approached Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, who born in Pakistan side Kashmir, a lawyer and leader of a Poliitical Party , United Kashmir People’s National Party ( UKPNP ). Sardar is in self exiled and lives in Switzerland.

When I asked why Rulling Party in Pakiatan also win elections in Kashmir  , sardar respond : “Such result in the Azad Kashmir elections is part of the Pakistani Establishment’s deliberate strategy that there should be a government in Azad Kashmir from the same party that is in power in Pakistan.”

When I asked Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmir the reason & logic for this strategy,  Sardar added ” Pakistan establishment does it delebrately to show the world that the people of administered kashmir and gilgit baltistan voted the party and show their love for the ruling party”

According to Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, all the political parties belonging to the ruling class of Pakistan are aware of the strategy of the Establishment. So many seats have been arranged.

” As a proof in this regard, the people of Pakistan, including Kashmiri, have seen the video and interview of Nabil Gabol and a member of PTI on social media and digital media” .

Sardar: Now you may be thinking that why the promises made to all these parties were not fulfilled. The real cause was Maryam Nawaz of PML (N).

“Maryam Nawaz has cracked the whole game and she has challenged and said Pakistani establishmen must stop  old practice game of choosing and nominating as well as respect true democracy and the sanctity of the vote  That was the reason During recent Election Maryam Nawaz ran a vigorous Kashmir campaign and informed the people what is going to happen with your homeland and votes in this election. The huge election rallies of Maryam Nawaz blew the minds of the Pakiatani Establishment, in result  they devised a new strategy in the last three days of the elections and decided not to take any risk and to win the PTI with more power across the state. That is why at the last minute the Establishment reduced the seats of the PPP and the PPP members were happy but the Muslim Conference has expressed its reservations on results.

Shaukat Kashmiri added, “You should know that an officer of Pakistani Spy agency, who was incharge of Azad Kashmir affairs was also transferred due to other opposition protests including Maryam Nawaz. As he was openly campaigning for PTI.”

According to Shaukat Kashmiri, these facts are not hidden but are common. Otherwise one can tell why the PML (N) president, Shahbaz Sharif , did not address Muzaffarabad or any election rally as he knew that the Pakistani Establishment would not allow him to win in Kashmir recent election under any circumstances.

Sardar Shaukat concluded and ended : “In Azad Kashmir, the four Powerful officers who comes from Islamabad  directly and posted at the behest of the Pakistani Establishment control all the administration and other affairs of Kashmir and this the reason Maryam Nawaz also mentioned them in her election speeches  in Kashmir”.

On the other side, remember that Kashmir nationalists, including leaders of other parties, boycott the Kashmir elections because it is a law in Pakistan administered Kashmir that all candidates have to submit an affidavit before the elections. In which Kashmir believes in the ideology of accession to Pakistan and the integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan.

At the same time, in Kashmiri elections, whenever a candidate wins the election, even after being elected as a member of the Assembly, the candidate also takes an oath to must be loyal to Pakistan as well as the state of Kashmir’s goal of annexation to Pakistan.
